Honduras Adventure

After breakfast, tour to the mystical Mayan ruins and Sculpture Museum, where you will be able to witness the ancient Mayan culture. The ruined citadel and imposing public squares reveal the three main stages of development before the city was abandoned in the early 10th century. Copan with its temples, plazas and terraces, comprises a type of architectural complex among the most characteristic of the Mayan civilization. The lengthy inscription on the Hieroglyphic Stairway Plaza is of considerable historical significance.

Following the visit of Mayan Ruins transfer to the Caribbean city of Tela, about 5h ride. A little slice of heaven on the north shore, is more than the sleepy town often described. This is where to go on the Honduras Caribbean coast if you want to relax and be near or on the beach and swim in the sea. Tela is located half way between the cities of San Pedro Sula and La Ceiba. Originally the headquarters for the United Fruit Company in Honduras, Tela has a largest concentration of Garifuna villages in the World! The villages of Triunfo de La Cruz, Tornabe, San Juan and Miami are only some of the many Garifuna communities around the lovely Bay of Tela. Some of the best beaches in Honduras are found in Tela.

On the way visit Pulhapanzak waterfall . Visit to the 43 meters of waterfall of Rio Lindo, and its cultural importance of the prehistoric settlement traces found in its surroundings makes it a must see destination in Honduras. The trails go very near to the Pulhapanzak waterfall, you will actually get into the waterfall and behind the falling water. Stop at Lago de Yojoa for lunch (lunch not included). Transfer to Tela (5 hours).

The following morning after breakfast. 8: 00 a.m, take a boat ride from Tela to Punta Sal is 45 minutes long. You would have an hour or more, for walking through the National Park, with the opportunity to see monkeys, spiders, and butterflies. You will have the time for one or two hours for snorkelling (included equipment), the rest of the day you can relax and enjoy the beach. The length of the tour is from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m and have a typical lunch at Cocalito Beach.

For guests on a 5 day tour you will be transferred from the hotel to San Pedro Sula Airport for your flight back home. Guests staying on longer duration’s ,after breakfast (8:30 a.m) head out on a tour to Punta Izopo. Today involves kayaking through the mangrove canals of Punta Izopo National Park. Butterflies such as the Blue Morph abound as well as an ample variety of water birds including kingfishers and herons. We go back, for a visit to one of the Garifuna Villages Triunfo de la Cruz were you can swim and have a typical lunch by the beach. Afternoon transfer to La Ceiba, approximately 2 hours.

The following day launch off by boat from Zambo Creek, a one hour trip to the virgin white beaches of Cayos Cochinos will leave you in awe as you look back at the mainland with the ‘Cordillera Gracias a Dios’ towering in the distance. Coral reefs and pristine sandy beaches make up this archipelago of 13 cays – a “must see” on the Honduran North Coast. You will enjoy a tour of the islands, and a time of snorkelling while taking in the incredible tranquillity of this marine biology reserve.

After breakfast we will follow the Rio Zacate trail, we’ll have a beautiful view of the Caribbean Coast, reaching the Zacate Waterfall. Hiking along the ‘Cordillera Gracias a Dios’, which has its highest peak in Pico Bonito will leave you breathless at the natural park that has made Honduras famous. Transfer to the Ferry dock for the afternoon ferry to Roatán. The next 2 days are left free for you to enjoy West Bay Beach and all the activities in the area.

Transfer to Roatán Airport for your international flight back home.
