The Deluxe Double Room is ideal for families or a small group travelling as two double beds with panelled headboards are provided. The contrast of powder blue walls, dark wood flooring and elaborate yellow soft furnishings create a luxurious and naturalistic atmosphere within the rooms; almost an extension of the lush parks outside. The framed artwork shows illustrations of endemic Ecuadorian plants which can be found in the grounds and the nearby Parque Historico.

The room is complete with embroidered wingback armchairs and a hardwood coffee table by the large picture windows which offer views over the garden, a desk and large flat-screen television.

The spacious ensuite is decorated in white marble, with a marble sink unit and large mirror, and has a double rainfall shower. The beautiful attention to detail continues through to the ensuite; the complimentary shaving kits and toothbrushes come in embroidered cotton bags and the fragrant Ecuadorian cosmetics are locally sourced.

The Deluxe King Room is similarly appointed, except with a large king-size bed in place of the two double beds. The Deluxe King Room sleeps up to 2 adults.

Situated on the second floor, the Signature King rooms offer stunning views over the gardens; with the decor in keeping with the natural themes of the hotel, the contrast of yellow and neutral muted greens and taupes ties the room together. The room is furnished with a large king-size bed dressed in white linens, with soft furnishings that utilise the colour theme of the hotel, yellow embroidered wingback armchairs, a large wardrobe and a desk. The walls are home to framed artwork of endemic Ecuadorian plants which can be found in the hotel gardens and in Parque Historico.

The Junior Suite is spacious and perfect for couples, the room is furnished with a large king-size bed and has a large, comfortable seating area with wingback chairs and a sofa for relaxing in the evenings. The seating area is separated from the rest of the suite by a painted screen, which adds a cosy atmosphere to the space, and is painted in the same yellow and powder blue as the walls and soft furnishings – giving the room aesthetic cohesion.

The Park Suite is Hotel del Parque’s crown jewel; a sumptuous, spacious suite with a separate bedroom, living and dining area, and a pantry kitchen.

The Suite is decorated in the hotel’s thematic colours of powder blue and yellow, with neutral-toned soft furnishings adorning the bed. Set in a 19-century building overlooking the River, the hotel’s restaurant offers the finest sophisticated Ecuadorian dining. The regularly updated menu is full of rich seafood, fresh from the nearby Pacific coast, as well as local ingredients like avocado, coconut and world-famous cacao all used in the restaurants delightfully original creations. These creations are inspired by the customs of traditional Ecuadorian cuisine with its soups, stews and tropical flavours, all brought to life by the in house experienced chef.

This restaurant-cafe fusion is located in the hotel’s lush gardens, surrounded by endemic trees and orchids. The Cafeteria offers light, fresh meals and a la carte menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner to ensure ingredients are at their freshest.

Discover the hotel’s surrounding wildlife sanctuary, where you can find rare and endangered species like the giant harpy eagle and caimans that live among the mangroves and exotic plants. The hotel’s concierge can also arrange a private guided tour of the animal sanctuary and grounds.

Hotel del Parque hosts coffee experiences, which offer guests the opportunity to learn about the plant and the process of making coffee, and even roast their own beans to take home. The hotel’s experts guide guests through the process and allow visitors an insight into how some of the best coffee in the world is prepared.

Set in a historic 120-year-old landowner’s house, guests are invited to experience chocolate like never before! Using traditional methods, visitors are encouraged to pick their own cacao pods and learn how the beans are transformed into Ecuadorian artisanal chocolate.

Situated in the Hotel del Parque’s on-site chapel, at the top of the wood-beam bell tower, the spa offers a variety of massages and beauty treatments using products created from the hotel’s own herb garden. Book in for a relaxing session whilst enjoying the 360° views over the stunning tropical gardens.

Designed as a fun and educational experience for children, the treasure hunt allows children to explore the hotel gardens whilst they learn about the rare plants and wildlife they find. These discoveries can be printed so they can share their adventures when they get back! A private tour of the animal sanctuary and grounds can also be arranged.

Built by the Central Bank of Ecuador in 1997, Parque Historico spans almost 8 hectares and is a theme park dedicated to preserving the history and wildlife of Guayaquil. Split into three defined areas: a wildlife area, a traditional area and an urban area.

The wildlife area comprises approximately four hectares and recreates the natural habitat of more than 50 species between birds, mammals and other animals that turned the woods into their natural habitat, some of which are in danger of extinction.

The wildlife area is toured through an elevated trail that allows real contact with the ecosystem, without causing disruption to the animals. During the walk, 23 themed stops are made, in order to admire each species individually.

The traditional area allows visitors to step back in time to the “Pepa de Oro”, an era characterised by the economic boom from the cacao trade, and see how rural communities lived and worked. The traditional area is also home to ethnobotanical orchards, where visitors can learn about the medicinal properties of endemic plants and how they were used historically.

The urban area recreates the early 20th century, and is home to a functioning replica of the Urban Car, a series of tram carriages pulled along the tracks by horses or mules. Actors in colonial French clothing complete the time-travelling journey.

Las Peñas is the oldest neighbourhood in Guayaquil, with colourful houses adding character to the hillside cobblestone streets. Eclectic bars and restaurants, art galleries, museums, shops, and romantic views over the city make exploring the alleyways an active way to spend a few hours. Climb the 444 steps up Santa Ana Hill to discover this barrios’ charms, in a place where the history and romance of old Guayaquil are palpable.

Located close to the waterfront and flanked on one side by the Guayaquil Metropolitan Cathedral, Parque Seminario holds a unique place for visitors and locals alike. The park is home to hundreds of land iguanas that roam the grass and walkways. Vendors in the park sell lettuce to feed the reptiles, who grow more than three feet long.

One of the undisputed top things to do in Guayaquil is to stroll the Malecon 2000. This is the name for the modern boardwalk that overlooks the Guayas River in Guayaquil city. It is a place for family strolls whilst enjoying the passing breeze that rolls off the sea, and especially enjoyable in the evening.

Along the 2.5km stretch of Malecon 2000, you will find restaurants, bars, shops, and an IMAX movie theatre amid the ponds, water fountains, historic landmarks and playgrounds. Particular highlights include the La Perla Ferris Wheel (the highest in South America) where the views from the enclosed cars after dark capture the lights of the city on one side and river views on the other, and the Rotonda Monument which marks the famous conference meeting between Simon Bolivar & San Jose back in 1822.

The Green Globe certificate validates Hotel del Parque as operating in accordance with 44 core criteria and over 380 compliance indicators to be listed as an eco-friendly, sustainable hotel required for Green Globe certification, including waste management, energy and water use, commitment to conservation and community outreach. Hotel del Parque is one of just seven hotels in South America to achieve the coveted affiliation.

The Children International Foundation awarded a Certificate of Recognition to Hotel del Parque for collaborating with them in developing initiatives that discover and nurture the potential of young Ecuadorians. By working together, the hotel and Foundation invest time and effort in young lives that will generate lasting changes within themselves and in the long term, their communities.

Hotel del Parque offers sustainability training to all staff, educates guests about sustainable living and aims to communicate the message of responsible actions to the public to highlight environmental issues. We are also committed to supporting the professional and personal development of our team and contributing to the support of environmental education within the community and through the promotion of cultural activities.

Important environmental activities are undertaken by the hotel throughout the year. Every year, on Community Day, the members of the Hotel del Parque team plant trees and volunteer in the botanical gardens of Parque Historico Guayaquil. Additionally, the hotel celebrates #FoodForChange every year in partnership with SlowFood International. The objective of this initiative is to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions, counter the rapid development of life and combat the decrease in people’s interest in the food they eat, where they come from and how our food choices affect the world around us.

Hotel del Parque maximises the use of recyclable and reusable materials throughout the hotel. In keeping with the hotel’s waste reduction scheme, old towels, sheets and soft furnishings are donated to either the local orphanage or other foundations for reuse where possible. Employees are encouraged to ensure that all waste is disposed of through appropriate waste management systems. The hotel has a well-established recycling program and staff are trained in how to implement it effectively.
