Xaxaba Mobile Camp

A total of 6 Meru-style tents comprises the accommodation at Xaxaba Mobile Camp. Each individual unit is positioned to overlook the spectacular sights of Chiefs Island. Each tent sleeps 2 people, with the camp accommodating a maximum of 12 total guests.

Dining is comprehensive and delicious. All-inclusive rates cover the three meals served each day, consisting of local flavours and western style cuisine, with a variety of lite bites and snacks offered between meals to keep you sustained throughout the days safari activities. Evening dinner consists of a lavish three course meal at the outdoor communal tented dining area.

High tea presents the perfect opportunity to unwind amidst the junction of a day’s activities with a range of refreshing beverages and sumptuous snacks. Soak in the atmosphere with high tea alfresco for an atmospheric midday refreshment for a classy and memorable reprieve.

Walking Safaris provide an intimate and engaging way to explore the bountiful habitats of the Okavango. Experienced guides will lead you safely through merging ecosystems in search of exotic game and staple safari creatures.

Set sail for the winding delta channels and lagoons of the Okavango with a luxurious boat safari in the company of friends and guide alike. Feel free to enjoy sundowners while floating peacefully atop tranquil delta channels, searching for game and the aquatic creatures of the wild.

There’s no feeling quite like calmly drifting through tranquil delta waterways, led by your private guide. This traditional canoe excursion will enable you to fully absorb the pristine delta atmosphere, passing papyrus fringed riverbeds and picturesque waterlilies, while also keeping a sharp eye for predators and prey alike that rear in close to delta banks to drink from river waters and feat on the reeds.

There are certain sections of the island where swimming is possible. If it is safe, and the water levels are low, you are invited to take a dip in the pristine waters of the Okavango for a replenishing swim like no other.

Should you care to unwind while you cast a line, you’re invited to try your hand at a spot of fishing amidst the fertile waters of the Okavango. If you wish to do so, you must bring your own equipment. Please note, catch and release fishing only.

Guides will take you to an exquisite set-up on the sandy banks of the island to celebrate golden hour, an atmospheric experience and opportunity to watch the golden savannah sun set peacefully amidst the backdrop of the Okavango, all while enjoy an alluring variety of alcoholic and none-alcoholic beverages.

Xaxaba Mobile Camp lacks any permanent fixtures built atop the land of the Okavango, with all accommodation and camp facilities consisting of light and compact tented suites. The camp is assembled before your arrival, and upon moving to a different location, is simply packed up and transported, ensuring the ecologically sensitive land is free from harm, and the overall footprint is minute.

Xaxaba Mobile Camp offers a truly rustic and authentic grass-roots safari experience by forgoing the use of electricity in the running of the camp and its facilities. Lighting is provided in the form of torches, lanterns and campfires, while special eco-sanitation systems provide the usage of toilets and showers for all guests. In fact, the only motorised activity in Xaxaba Mobile Camp is the open water cruise excursion, resulting in a truly light footprint.
