The Owner’s Cottage at Grande Provence

The Angels Suite is a luxurious honeymoon suite with a full en-suite bathroom and a comfortable lounge area. The bedroom features a huge king-size bed fitted with soft sheets and adorned with extra pillows, cushions and blankets to keep you warm in the chilly evenings. Guests can also snuggle up in the lounge area beside the suite’s roaring fireplace. The Angels Suite also includes a semi-private garden for enjoying the fresh air and stunning natural scenery.

The Cabernet Room is located on the ground floor and includes a living room area, spacious bedroom and an en-suite bathroom with a relaxing bathtub and modern fittings. The contemporary interior compliments the traditional Cape Dutch design of the building, with modern furnishings alongside the classic style rugs and wooden beams. The Chardonnay Room is a charming loft suite with sloping thatch ceilings. The natural colours of the room create a cosy space for relaxing, with a window ledge seat – perfect for enjoying a good book while taking in the stunning vineyard views, and a balcony that overlooks the beautiful garden.

The en-suite bathroom is luxurious and filled with modern amenities including a relaxing bathtub, walk-in shower and spacious vanity area. Guests can enjoy sleeping in a comfy king-size bed and waking up to breathtaking scenery.

The Merlot Room is also located upstairs. The warm and earthy suite is ideal for guests who are looking for a peaceful and homely environment for their Wineland retreat. The natural colours of the sloping thatch ceilings and soft carpets create a cosy space for relaxing, with a window ledge seat – perfect for enjoying a good book while taking in the stunning vineyard views, as well as an elegant writing desk and a balcony that overlooks the swimming pool and endless grapevines.

The en-suite bathroom is luxurious and filled with modern amenities including a relaxing bathtub, walk-in shower and spacious vanity area. Guests can enjoy sleeping in a comfy king-size bed and waking up to breathtaking scenery.

La Provençale Villa is a private and secluded villa which can accommodate up to four guests. The charming building consists of two spacious bedrooms, both with large king-size beds and private en-suite facilities. The bedrooms are fitted with air conditioning and guests can escape the midday heat with a dip in the refreshing swimming pool, located in your outdoor courtyard.

Take gentle strolls through the private gardens and enjoy the lovely greenery and sunny South African weather. There are also outdoor dining facilities and a luxurious seating area out on the verandah. Guests can enjoy exclusive use of the villa on a Bed and Breakfast basis.

The Restaurant and Wine Tasting area at Grande Provence contrasts with the traditional 18th century Manor House, reflecting a chic and industrial presence. The Restaurant was designed by the renowned interior designer Virginia Fisher, who also worked on sister properties Huka Lodge in New Zealand and Dolphin Island in Fiji. The Restaurant at Grande Provence opens daily from 12 pm until 7 pm, serving delicious lunches and gourmet dinners crafted by Executive Chef, Darren Badenhorst.

Leading from The Restaurant is the wine-tasting area. The bar stands in the centre of the room, inviting guests to try the rich wines award-winning wines made on the estate.

The Farm Shop and Deli at Grande Provence offers a broad selection of freshly baked bread, charcuterie, cheeses, coffee beans, fresh fruit and vegetables, free-range eggs, preserves, jams, cakes and rusks.

Enjoy a delicious country-style picnic among the beautiful grounds at Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate. Guests can sit under the ancient oak trees and admire the sculptures and plants that rest in the manicured gardens with the backdrop of the Franschhoek vineyards and distant mountains.

Picnics are available from September until the end of April, and guests should give 48 hours notice for a picnic lunch. Depending on the weather, an indoor setting will be provided if sitting outside will not be possible.

Visit the winery at Grande Provence and take a tour of the incredible cellar where wines are blended and matured. Guests can enjoy a range of tasting experiences including the Tastes of Grande Provence which includes 2 red and 2 white wines paired with a selection of 4 canapes, the Limited Release Wine Tasting and Premium Wine Tasting which both include 4 wines, or try the Angels Tears range with the Lifestyle Wine Tasting experience.

Children can also join in and be entertained with the Kiddies Grape Tasting experience.

Try an exciting wine blending experience where you will receive three wine varieties and be able to combine them to create your own unique blend of wine. A wine ambassador will be on-hand to guide guests through the blending process and show how certain varieties harmonise better than others. At the end of the session, guests can cork their own wine and take it home with them.

Grande Provence’s custom-designed gallery features a beautiful collection of works by South Africa’s finest artists, including talents like Angus Taylor, Deborah Bell, Lionel Smit and Leon Vermeulen. The gallery also has the work of the ground-breaking new artists Phillemon Hlungwani, Jacki McInnes and Nico Masemolo. The works span a range of media and forms, including high-quality sculptures which are exhibited in their own garden.

Adjacent to the gallery is a small shop which sells smaller works, African Artefacts and decorative pieces. The Gallery also offers advice to clients on collecting works, art conservation and restoration, and valuations.

The Gallery is open from 10 am until 6 pm.

Grande Provence established a music school to enable local children aged between 12 and 18 to gain a free musical education during the school holidays. The main goal of the school is to develop the existing vocal talent within the community and complement their existing musical education. The school focuses strongly on theory so that children can take their musical talent to higher education if they so wish.

Classes are held at the Music Studio at Grande Provence and consist of one to four students so that they can be fully supported while learning. The Grande Provence Music School hopes to encourage children to enjoy music theory and gain skills as well as self-confidence which can benefit them in many aspects of life and help them to push themselves further.
