Guests can taste delectable meals including soups, prawns, sate campur, home made pasta or choose from the many options from the vegetarian menu available.

Take part in the experience of cooking meals using ingredients from the local market to cook some of Bali’s most popular dishes. A resident Chef will accompany you throughout this class to guide you and provide professional and informative details of spices, flavours and techniques. You will be preparing meals in the outside kitchen located in the Organic Garden on site and you will have the chance to cook Balinese meal for family and friends to enjoy.

Ideal for nature lovers and those looking for a challenge, guests can take part in this adventure of climbing the summit of Mount Batur and explore the ridge where you will be able to see natural sieving of mineral water. At the top of Mount Batur watch the perfect sunrise standing above the clouds and cook an ‘onsen’ egg using the natural hot steam produced from the fractured fissures of the active flaming volcano. Included in this tour are refreshments, food, transportation and equipment such as an umbrella, cooking equipment on request.

Venture to the traditional Balinese village of Penglipuran in Bangli Regency and experience the unique traditional lifestyle. This tour begins by exploring the renowned Bangli Regency and the Penglipuran villages in the heart of Bali by trekking through the deep bamboo forest and learn the life of the locals in Balinese villages. You will also have the opportunity to discover the 11th century Kehen Temple which is the largest temple with carved gateways. Included in this tour are refreshments, local cuisine, transportation and equipment that includes an umbrella.

They also engage with local communities as this creates economic opportunities for residents in the area as well as improving their quality of life with real and lasting benefits.

“Alila Ubud is committed to recruiting the majority of our employees from the local area and region of Gianyar Regency. First priority is given to the neighbouring banjars surrounding the hotel. Around 70% of our employees live within 20km of the hotel, and 92% are native to the island. Our recruitment process is a result of discussion and agreement with the surrounding three adjacent banjars. Our hotel also welcomes tourism students who wish to do a traineeship programme. As part of the Payangan and Gianyar community, Alila Ubud feels responsible to give back by participating in community projects co-organised with neighbouring villages, local government, hotel associations in Bali and Ubud, and Non-Governmental Organisations such as Bali Hotels Associations, Ubud Hotels Association, Subak (water irrigation community), IDEP, local school (through regular environmental presentations), East Bali Poverty Project, TEMESI Recycling Centre, ABC Recycling Solutions, Yayasan Bumi Sehat and KIM School.”

“Did you know that all the fresh fruits and vegetables available in the hotel are supplied locally? Not only that, most of our room amenities and the products available in our Alila Living boutique, such as soaps, shampoo, slippers and the Spa Alila products, are produced in Bali and many of them through village co-operatives supported by Alila. Purchasing goods that are made locally benefits our own community economically, not to mention the environment, by reducing the need for transportation. For that reason, we prefer working with vendors who adopt a sustainable approach to their operations. We do so through encouragement, agreement and regular evaluation with our existing suppliers and new ones. We encourage our suppliers to reduce their packaging and waste when sending their goods to us by bulk purchase orders.”
