The hotel offers 25 authentic cabanãs equipped with either one king or two twin beds. Twilight River
Watch the sunset over the botanical forest as you travel down Madre de Dios River via an outboard motorised canoe. Enjoy this tranquil journey at dusk when the surroundings are so peaceful, the only audible sound will be bird songs. Learn about river ecosystems, Amazonian creeks, native animals and star constellations.

Rainforest by Night
Explore the wonders of the mystical place on an evening when you can enjoy a private guided tour and discover the captivating patterns of native nocturnal animals and observe nighttime behaviours of the beautiful rainforest wildlife.

Botanical Garden Trail
Venture to the hotel’s own botanical garden where you will be accompanied by a private tour guide to learn all about the immense variety of medicinal plants unique to this region of the Amazon. Compare and contrast the benefits of medicinal plants with traditional remedies and share your thoughts on which treatment you would prefer.

Native Farm
Embark on a short boat ride along the lazy river adjacent to the hotel lodge and visit a local farm. Observe the farmers employ ancient methods to sow seeds and grow crops. Learn all about the ancient methods of cultivation that are used at the farm to successfully harvest crops and taste some yummy produce from off the farm!

Inland Collpa
This excursion begins with a 15-20 minute walk away from the hotel towards the four clay licks at Hacienda Concepcion. From here guests can observe the wildlife from inside the ‘blinds’ which have been strategically designed in a discrete way so that guests can go unnoticed and observe the behaviour patterns of the surrounding wildlife.

Gamitana Farm
Join a personal tour guide and navigate towards Gamitana Creek, venturing through the model farm. Observe the operations on the farm including their traditional methods of farming, unique to this area and sample some of their seasonal produce either whilst on the farm or later with your dinner. Discover all about the community projects conducted by the ITA-Inkaterra Asociación (NGO) and learn about their importance and impact on the area.

Cacao
Venture to the surrounding cocoa plantation and observe, learn about and take part in the ancient chocolate making process. From the fermenting and picking of the fruits to the creation of the finished cocoa product, be a part of the journey. Participants will be required to peel the toasted cocoa seeds and grind them into a paste to help create a wonderful product.

Brazil Nut
Accompany the hotel’s very own explorer guides to a small hut nestled away in the hotel grounds where you will learn all about the history, lifetime and importance of the brazil nut tree. Discover the importance of the brazil nut tree on the local economy and how the livelihood of many locals depends on the brazil nut, and sample some freshly picked brazil nuts after learning about the techniques employed for collecting them.

Cocha
Explore the Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción oxbow shaped lake via canoe. Guests can enjoy fishing on a catch-and-release basis, and cruise steadily down these tranquil waters observing the vast varieties of fish that swim beneath your boat. On route, you will ride past the renowned Fitzcarrald steamboat remains where you can learn all about its captivating history.

Canopy Walkway
Venture 25 minutes away from the hotel via motorised canoe to the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway Interpretation Centre. There you will ascend 95 feet above the forest floor and walk along a suspension bridge at the same level as the treetops where you will enjoy the captivating birds-eye view of the tropical rainforest from 8 observation platforms. Following your descent from up above, experience the Anaconda walk across a wooden bridge above the wetland. On the bridge, walkers can discover the captivating ecosystem below and observe animals which thrive in the conditions of the marshland.

Lake Sandoval
Enjoy a guided walk into the Tambopata National Reserve through botanical green land. From there, hop onto a canoe and ride down the meandering oxbow river. Learn all about the unique ecosystem, river formation and conservation efforts as well as the extensive sea life surrounding your canoe.

Birders can enjoy an exciting half-day experience starting with boarding a boat to the Madre de Dios River, via the Cachuela clay lick. The lodge’s professional guide will teach you all about biodiversity and birdlife present in this tropical region and participants can partake in the renowned clay lick activity. Watch the exotic birds glide through the air as you enjoy a delicious breakfast from the comfort of the boat.

Since Inkaterra was established, over 4,000 local community members have been trained and equipped with skills to enhance employability and heighten their chances of leading a sustainable way of life. Career opportunities with the hotel group are made available to locals and often career progression is made accessible. Additionally, Inkaterra holds environmental conferences targeted at local people with the aim of equipping them with the knowledge necessary to preserve the environment.

The Inkaterra hotel group have been performing scientific research since 1978. They endeavour to measure the brand’s future impact and run a world-leading wildlife conservation programme. Through research, ‘A total of 814 bird species, 365 ant species, 313 butterfly species, and over 100 mammal species have been inventoried within hotel grounds and surroundings.’ Additionally, 28 species new to science have been described, including 19 orchids, 5 amphibians, 1 butterfly, 2 bromeliads and 1 tropical vine.

The NGO Inkaterra Association develops and manages initiatives on biodiversity conservation. Initiatives include; a canopy walkway, a bridge system in the rainforest canopy to enable wildlife observation, the largest native orchid collection in the world and many more. In 1989, the hotel brand was the first enterprise to become carbon neutral, ensuring the hotel mitigates the effects of its activities on the natural world.
