The tents are placed on wooden decking which blends into its natural surroundings. The canvas of the tents is dyed with natural colours, meaning that the camp does not distract from its beautiful surroundings, or disrupt the wildlife. Each room has an en-suite bathroom consisting of a chemical eco-friendly toilet and an outside bucket shower. The tents also feature a ‘star suite’. These mesh-enclosed gazebo extensions provide guests with an all-night under the stars experience. Gaze up at the dazzling blanket of African stars, surrounded by the sounds of the wilderness.

The camp features an open kitchen within the communal dining tent. Here, the camp’s chefs will prepare you three mouth-watering meals every day. Sit with your fellow campmates and enjoy delicious delicacies, surrounded by trumpeting elephants and the snorts of hippos. Guests can also enjoy an evening beverage from the bar, whilst sitting around the campfire and watching the stunning African sunset.

Embark on an exciting game drive and see the private reserve’s amazing wildlife up close. Drive up to the Chobe Enclave’s famous large herds of elephants and get a sense of their sheer size from the safety of the safari vehicle. Due to the camp’s position on a private reserve, guests are able to venture out on evening game drives. These game drives offer the unique chance to find some of the reserve’s nocturnal creatures such as bushbabies, African wildcats and honey badgers, all of which you would be unable to find during the day.

Wander across the Linyanti Marshlands and explore with an experienced and passionate walking guide. Venture to the places that safari vehicles cannot reach, and spy on incredible wildlife without the noise of an engine to startle them. Linyanti Expeditions take place during the dry season which is the perfect time for walking safaris as the water dries up, revealing more plains to walk across. The professional armed guides will be able to teach you about the fascinating species that live on the reserve, and how to recognise and follow their tracks.

Drift along the Linyanti River in a dug-out canoe and watch the wildlife from the safety of the tranquil waters, while learning about the river and its inhabitants. Sit back and relax while hippos swim alongside you and elephants drink from the riverbank. Once the only form of transportation available to bushmen, mokoros would have been fashioned from indigenous tree trunks. Today, they are made from fibreglass to help preserve Botswana’s hardwood forests.

The Linyanti Marshlands feature a varied range of environments, both wet and dry, which provides a brilliant location for bird watching. The private reserve has hundreds of bird species to see, including African Skimmers, Half-Collared Kingfishers, Carmine Bee-eaters and Pel’s Fishing Owls.

The African Bush Camps Foundation has established a number of projects that aim to improve education, empowerment and conservation efforts within the local communities where they operate. They work with members of the community in order to improve school facilities, provide educational textbooks and supplies for students, and supporting a local health centre, as well as encouraging these communities to form a peaceful relationship with the local wildlife, and finding ways to resolve human and animal conflict. African Bush Camps contribute $10 USD towards the Foundation’s running costs for every night that a single guest stays at one of their camps.

Pack for a Purpose is an initiative that encourages travellers to benefit local communities by using spare suitcase space to bring much-needed supplies for their Conservation Education Program and Women’s Craft Groups. Supplies can be dropped off at your accommodation and will be used to aid a local project, such as craft groups, where local woman are taught skills that allow them to make traditional and non-traditional items such as traditional basketwork, hand-sewn and embroidered products and hand-beaded glass and food nets. These items can then be sold to provide incomes, start small businesses and even support the construction of homes.

Linyanti Expeditions uses solar power to help offset the carbon emissions generated by tourists travelling to the camp by air. The mobile camp uses chemical eco-friendly toilets and its transportable nature means that it leaves no lasting effects on the landscape. The African Bush Foundation runs a ‘Greener Camps’ programme which means that ‘African Bush Camps Safari Properties are committed to operating in a sustainable manner, ensuring that we preserve the environment, culture and conservation of Africa. Where possible we use solar power, low energy lighting systems, wastewater treatment, greywater recycling, and single-use plastic reduction initiatives.’ This means that the environmental impact caused by African Bush Camps is kept to a minimum.

The biggest threat to African lions is conflict with humans. Livestock is vital for many people’s livelihoods, and if lions attempt to attack livestock, it can have devastating effects for both the owners and the lions themselves if people were to retaliate. Because of this, the Lion Guardian teams are trained to empower and educate local communities about living in harmony with wildlife. By providing an income for the local members of the community that become Lion Guardians, the African Bush Camps Foundation is able to support the guardians and their families as well as protect lions and livestock.
