The circular, thatched brick bungalows provide guests with a charming, and rustic place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The Bungalow Beach Suite has a small terrace from which to enjoy the sunshine and offer views over the sea towards the island of Nosy Ve just off the coast.

The bungalows are simply furnished, with a comfortable double bed, a desk and chair and bedside tables all carved from dark wood and an in-built safe for any valuables. The ensuite is thematically tiled, with white and blue tiles creating patterns reminiscent of the sand and sea just beyond the door. The ensuite has a wet room-style shower with hot water being provided from the solar heater.

The Superior Beach Bungalows are spacious wooden buildings with thatched roofs and a large stone terrace with loungers leading to the beach. Inside, the concrete floors help keep the building cool, whilst the curved brick walls provide interesting architectural contrast around the ensuite. The ensuite is decorated with white and blue tiles creating patterns reminiscent of the sand and sea just beyond the door. The ensuite has a wet room-style shower with hot water being provided from the solar heater and a sink with triptych mirrors.

The Superior Beach Bungalows can accommodate up to 4 guests, or can be booked as a single, double or triple room.

The Classic Beach Bungalows are an authentic experience in Malagasy beach living. The thatched wooden bungalows are rustically and comfortably furnished with a single and double bed, both with mosquito nets, bedside tables, a desk and chair and an in-built safe for any valuables. All furniture is hand-carved from dark wood by local craftsmen.

The ensuite is separated by curved brick walls, and the interior is decorated with white and blue tiles, which introduce the colours of the beach outside, the blues of the sea and sky, and the whites of the sand to the interior of the bungalow. Guests staying in the Classic Beach Bungalows can enjoy a traditional Malagasy shower with hot water scented with Katrafay bark that staff supply to each Bungalow in the evening.

The restaurant at Hotel Safari Vezo offers regularly rotating a la carte menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner to ensure the locally sourced ingredients are at their freshest. The restaurant specialises in seafood that is procured from local fishermen who caught it that morning; the fishermen trade their wares each morning just a few kilometres down the beach from Hotel Safari Vezo.

The bar at Hotel Safari Vezo creates craft cocktails with a Malagasy twist, as well as international favourites. The bar area offers spectacular views over the ocean and is a great place for a sundowner. The atmosphere is celebratory and lively, with local musicians playing at the bar most evenings.

One of Madagascar’s most unusual national parks, Tsimanampetsotsa is home to a milky blue saline lake populated by wading birds, including pink and dwarf flamingoes. The limestone escarpment is home to a rare paychypodium-dominated spiny forest which has adapted to the region’s arid environment.

Tsimanampetsotsa is filled with incredible endemic flora and fauna, including 2000-year-old squat baobabs and ficus tree groves with roots that extend into the sinkhole waterways which ring tailed lemurs use to access drinking water. With 90% of all resident species endemic to the park, Tsimanampetsotsa has the highest endemicity of any reserve on the island.

One species of fish is found here in the limestone cave river system which runs under the desert and spiny bush. It is a small, pink-white blind cave fish which feeds on plankton, crustaceans, and insects. There are rare avian endemics, three species of lemur including the ring-tailed, the rare radiated tortoise and the recently discovered, locally endemic Grandidier’s mongoose, which was first described in 1986.

Each year, from June to September, Humpback whales migrate to the warm waters off the coast of Madagascar. On clear, still days, they play in the water of the Mozambique Channel. Visitor’s can watch from the shore, or book a spot on one of the boats which offers knowledgeable guides to answer any questions about the pods of whales.

Situated just 10 minutes off the coast from Safari Vezo, the islands of Nosy Ve and Nosy Satrana boast white sand beaches and azure waters. The islands are surrounded by vast coral reefs which are home to a spectacular array of diverse marine life. These trips can be booked as part of a diving expedition, or as a standalone for those who just want to explore the island and spend a while on the beautiful water.

All fresh produce is locally grown and seasonal, which reduces the carbon emissions of transporting ingredients. As a beachfront location, Hotel Safari Vezo procures all its seafood from local fishermen, meaning the seafood is always fresh and that the hotel contributes to the local community economy both by supporting local businesses, but also by ensuring job security.

All meals are served as part of an a la carte menu, rather than buffet-style which significantly reduces food waste and minimises the amount of energy required to prepare meals.

Hot water supplied to the bungalows is heated by solar power and energy use is capped to between 6pm and 10pm with the use of a generator. Each bungalow has solar lamps which charge during the day for use at night.
