Leaf offers a Mediterranean cuisine and the exact menu changes daily to ensure the freshest of ingredients are being sourced and used. Offering a Japanese menu, Zen offers a relaxed dining experience on a raised deck, the perfect spot to soak in the views and sounds of the ocean. With fish sourced from local fishermen and prepared daily, the restaurant is perfect for families, groups and couples.

Chill Bar overlooks the water and is the perfect spot to watch the sunset. With a resident DJ and signature cocktails, it’s the spot at the resort to dance and mingle. The Chill Bar also offers salads, soups, pizzas and a selection of cheeses to enjoy with both vegetarian and vegan options available. It’s a location ideal for groups travelling together.

An open-air and over-water restaurant, Longitude is open for both breakfast and dinner. Dinners are themed on the fresh catch of the day and the menu also offers grilled meats, pasta and Asian cuisine. Offering a buffet with live cooking stations, it is both dinner and a show.

Every year between March and July turtles are nesting on the beaches and if you’re visiting between May and August you can witness these turtles hatching with your own eyes and help them reach the ocean safely. Home to experienced instructors, Six Senses Laamu offers a wide variety of water sports all year round, such as wakeboarding, kite surfing, windsurfing and snorkelling. Classes are available to improve your technique or you’re welcome to go at your own pace on your own excursion with friends and family. Snorkelling will invite you to explore the underwater reefs of fish and coral, a once in a lifetime experience given the clear waters and the resident marine biologist is available to give guided tours in two snorkelling sites, some of the most impressive in the atoll.

Six Senses Laamu prides itself on its sustainability. With a host of programmes in place to ensure that emissions are reduced and natural land is being looked after, guests can be sure that their stay is an ethical choice to make.

Food is grown on site and sourced by locals of the island as well as fresh fish being sourced by local fishermen to reduce air miles and the need for plastic packaging altogether. By doing so locals are being employed, giving back and empowering the community. Local tailors are also employed to provide reusable cotton bags for the households on the island and due to Six Senses donating 97 water purification systems to the community, over 18,000 locals now have safe access to clean drinking water.

A host of programmes are being funded to teach future generations just how vital the work that Six Senses does is. The Hello Hallu Education program educated students on environmental issues whilst promoting gender equality. The Junior Marine Biology program invites young budding conservationists to get directly involved with the protection of eco-life and its resources. Guests are welcomed to join a ‘Sustainability Tour’ during their stay, to witness the Earth Lab, a location that focuses on zero-waste and self-sufficiency and are to see first hand how the work is both empowering for the local community and vital for the ecosystem.

Programmes are in place to ensure the eco-life and underwater reefs are protected and this education is available for all guests on excursions such as The island being home to its own resident marine biologist to tend to the eco-life. In partnership with the Manta Trust, the Olive Ridley Project and the Blue Marine Foundation, the Maldives Underwater initiative brings together both science and education, enabling the rare marine life to stay safe and for future generations to carry on this legacy. Due to this work over 500 resident sea turtles and 135 resident manta rays have been identified and are under protection by the marine team.

A focus since day one, the resort itself has been built sustainably with natural resources, reflecting its tropical surroundings and ensuring that the beautiful views are not obstructed on the island.

When ordering supplies for the resorts, Six Senses has banned single-use plastic and encourages their suppliers to reduce packaging when ordering in bulk. As Six Senses makes its own artisan chocolate, packaging is eliminated altogether. This goes hand in hand with the organically grown food on site, once again eliminating the need for packaging. By supporting the L.Maamendhoo Women Development Committee, Six Senses also aids the funding of local tailors to produce reusable cotton bags for all of their households.
