The Flight of Angels encompasses an amazing 13-minute helicopter trip over the Victoria Falls, further along the Zambezi River and over Zambezi National Park where you will get a bird’s eye view of the wildlife on the plains below. An extended version of the Flight of Angels, this 25-minute helicopter flight then continues further downstream, adding in a thrilling view of the Batoka Gorge. It really is as spectacular as the name suggests, so don’t miss out on this perspective of the Bakota Gorge and the surrounding area.

Follow in the footsteps of the early explorers as you and your party make your way through the tropical forest and along the falls, with your guide giving insights and expert knowledge into this environment and its epic history. This is more than just a walk through the landscape – this is an education.

A more lively and energetic way to see the Falls, rope bridges and cable slides offer you a route through the forest canopy and over the Zambezi rapids, where the spray is just visible beyond Victoria Falls Bridge. See the forest and the river from above as you weave in and out of trees, whilst also making sure to be on the lookout for the unique wildlife that calls these upper echelons home.

This activity is one for the adrenaline chasers and requires some serious bravery. Taking a running jump into the air, you will soar over the 200m/655ft-wide Batoka Gorge with the mighty Zambezi River gushing 120m/390ft below, enabling you to get a bird’s eye view of them – if you can keep your eyes open! Completing the Flying Fox earns you some serious bragging rights amongst friends.

MORE Community Trust (MCT), founded in 2002 as Bhubezi Trust, is MORE Family Collections’ (MFC) corporate social investment organisation.

The organisation undertakes development projects that are all self-sustainable, following the belief that by empowering communities to contribute their own resources, efforts and skills helps keep these projects alive in the future. Everyone has a role to play, inspiring pride, a sense of security and greater happiness for each member of the community.

Leadership of MCT includes an MFC representative, an environmental education & community representative, an NPO and community development advisor and a legal and governance advisor. The Trust’s operational costs are predominantly covered by corporate social investment contributions made by MORE Family Collection companies, with only 7.5% of donor funds making up the difference. Consequently, 92.5% of donations can be channelled into approved beneficiary projects.

MCT supports early childhood development, primary and secondary education, tertiary education, and training (in ICT, Nature Conservation & Hospitality), as well as adult skills development. They do this through community-based learning programmes that upskill communities, allowing them to enter the workplace and empowering them to create their own jobs and employment for others.

MCT facilitates the development of local black businesses and provides MFC-supported enterprise opportunities to bring in demand and enable them to trade locally. Supporting local business and employment helps people escape poverty and build better lives for themselves, and helps them to work together to build their communities and contribute to the economy.

MCT supports the provision of basic human needs to improve communities’ quality of life and ensure their well-being. The main areas of focus are providing access to security, basic healthcare, proper sanitation and clean, running water. Water is, by far, the greatest basic necessity, the availability of which will go a long way to securing the future of these communities and therefore more than warrants its own project focus.

To achieve this, MCT helps to support access to clean, running water via the installation of solar-powered or otherwise renewable energy powered boreholes in the most underprivileged communities in the area. Currently, many of southern Africa’s rural areas have limited or even no water service whatsoever. This is a fundamental human right which prevents illness and reduces mortality, especially amongst children.

MORE are committing to building an eco-friendly future for themselves, helping to fight against both climate change and the extinction of local wildlife. Methods used in this fight include:

• Energy: its use in buildings and transport is minimised as much as possible and they are moving towards renewable energy sources. Carbon footprint is tracked monthly.
• Water: water use is measured every day to minimise its use but maximise its quality.
• Waste: waste is reduced, and that which does get produced is reused or recycled as much as possible.
• Food: food is gradually moving to a farm-to-table framework, improving the ethics of its sources, as well as being healthier and tastier for the guests.
• Materials: materials are sourced locally to minimise transportation and support local businesses.
• Conservation: MORE supports organisations such as the Nakavango Conservation Programme whilst also educating guests on the wildlife and how they can aid conservation, enabling the ecosystem to thrive here.
