The Manor House

Each room is finished with rich dark woods and classic Sri Lankan design, and have everything you will need to fully indulge in the luxury on offer at The Manor House. Every room is air-conditioned, with an attached modern bathroom and marble floors or polished teakwood floors. Rooms are also equipped with antique armoires, luxury toiletries and direct dial telephones. Daily housekeeping service is offered.

In 400 sq. ft. of light and spacious accommodation, the Tower Duplex Rooms boast many beautiful original features, including ornate window frame and stained-glass windows. With an aerial view of the garden and surrounding beauty, a flower petaled bed on arrival, and a place to relax on your own private balcony, you can bask in the stunning Sri Lankan countryside all around you in your own little heaven.

In 600 sq. ft. the three Deluxe Suite rooms at The Manor House is where true opulence resides. With elegantly tall ceilings, original features and stunning views over the gardens, the Deluxe Suites are the height of luxury, with more than enough space for you to sit back and relax as the Sri Lankan sunshine washes in the large windows all around. All rooms comes with an array of modern amenities.

Three kilometres from Kandy city is The Ceylon Tea Museum at Hantane. Originally a real working tea factory, the museum explores many of the aspects of tea making and its history in Sri Lanka. On the ground and second floor is an exhibition of very old items of machinery used in the historical processes, while the first floor consist of a library and an auditorium with facilities for audio visual presentations. The third floor explores the many varieties of tea available and you can even give them a try. On the top floor, the museums café offers panoramic views of Kandy town surrounded by the beautiful Hunasgiriya, Knuckles Range and the Matale range of hills which viewed through a telescope.

Venture about 5km west of the city of Kandy to the royal Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. Renowned for its collection of orchids, among 4000 other species of plant, these gardens are a sight to behold. Dating back as far as 1371 and covering 147 acres, there is plenty of flora and fable to get stuck into. Once reserved only for Kandyan royalty, this spectacle is now open to the public, so swan down the avenue of royal palm trees and enjoy a picnic under the giant Javan fig tree on the great lawn.

Sri Dalada Maligawa, more commonly known as The Temple of the Tooth, is located in the heart of Kandy. It is one of most revered temples in the country, attracting worshippers and other visitors from around the world. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sri Dalada Maligawa is known for holding a tooth relic from Lord Buddha, which is paraded through the streets of Kandy in a grand parade known as ‘Esala Perahera’ during the months of July and August.

Revel in the tranquil ambiance known to the Victoria Golf Club Kandy– its undulating hills setting the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable getaway. Sprawling coconut and jack forests await you as you stroll along unending green slopes – taking in the splendour of birds and butterflies fluttering across the landscape. Beautifully cast over every undulation, peak and slope, the course has previously been voted ‘Best in Asia’ by Asian Golf Monthly and ranked in top 100 ‘Most Beautiful Courses in the World’ by Golfers Digest. Horse riding is available at the Golf Course.

The menu for the exquisite five-course dinner that is served each evening at The Manor House changes daily. Not only does this mean that guests get to try a variety of beautiful Sri Lankan and international dishes each day but it also means that the chefs can write the menu according to the season and what is available locally. All the fruit and vegetables are locally sourced, so not only are they as fresh as can be, but the local community are supported.

Many of the attentive staff at The Manor House are hired from the local area. This means not only is the homely atmosphere that runs through the property authentic, but also that the hotel contributes to the community’s prosperity and long-term wellbeing.
