Chobe Game Lodge

Each of the standard rooms leads out onto a large terrace with deckchairs that overlook the Chobe River. The standard rooms are spacious and comfortable with en-suite bathrooms that include large baths and a separate shower. Enjoy relaxing on a soft double or twin bed in your own space with ceiling fans and air-conditioning, while watching the wildlife from your window with a beverage from the complimentary mini-bar. Two of the rooms are fully accessible for wheelchair users.

Take your family on a safari and stay in one of the Luxury Family Suites. With easy access and a diverse range of safari experiences, the Chobe National Park is an amazing destination for a family safari for children aged 6 and over. The luxury family suites have plenty of space and are secluded so that parents do not need to worry about disturbing other guests. The rooms are open-plan with air-conditioning and consist of a comfortable lounge, a master bedroom with a double bed, and a second room with twin beds. The suite’s bathroom is large and spacious, with a separate bath and shower and twin sinks. Large wooden doors lead out onto a private terrace and an infinity plunge pool for the family to relax and cool off in after a day of activities and exploring. In-room dining is also available for families who want to enjoy a private experience.

Located in the lodge’s main area, the triple room has a larger and more secluded terrace as well as a second bathroom. The en-suite bathroom consists of a large bath and a separate shower, and the other toilet includes a walk-in shower. The lounge area in the triple room can be converted into another bedroom with a single bed, making this room perfect for families. As with all other rooms, air-conditioners and overhead fans are provided, as well as a complimentary mini-bar, tea and coffee-making facilities and your own terrace with deck chairs that overlooks the stunning Chobe River.

The Honeymoon Suite is the most secluded location in the lodge and ideal for couples who are hoping for some time together alone. Lie back on the sun loungers on your own private terrace with an infinity plunge pool, and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Chobe National Park. Or, enjoy a laid-back afternoon in the separate lounge area between safari activities. The suite is open-plan with a luxurious king-size bed and a complimentary mini-bar. Leading from the bedroom, the spacious bathroom consists of a large shower, a separate bath, and twin basins.

Start your day off with an early light breakfast and a fresh cup of tea or coffee before embarking on a morning safari, followed by a full brunch that will be awaiting you on your return. Lunch is served from 12:30 onwards, and high tea is available in the afternoon. A range of dinners are served in the evenings, including delicious three-course meals or a light stir fry. Enjoy your meal on the dining terrace area or one of the many boardwalk locations or open-air patio, and swap stories with family, friends and the other guests. Or, if you fancy some privacy after a busy day, food can even be served directly to your room.

Early morning game drives start the instant that the Chobe National Park opens for the day, giving guests the best chance of tracking predators such as lions, leopards and wild dogs, while they are still active. The electric vehicles are silent and produce zero CO2 emissions, allowing you to get up close to the game without startling them, and without causing any negative impacts on the environment. The drives travel alongside the Chobe River, where herds of elephants and buffalo gather to drink. You will likely also see giraffes and impalas. You may even sight the Puku antelope, which is only available to see in this part of Botswana. Afternoon drives depart in the late afternoon and return at the park’s closing time to allow for guests to spend the maximum amount of time out in the park with your expert guide amongst Botswana’s incredible wildlife.

Witness the beauty of the Chobe River up close from aboard a solar-powered safari boat. The ‘skimmer boats’ can seat up to 12 guests in movable deck chairs, allowing you to view the river from any angle and from any position aboard the boat of your choice. This means that families can all sit together and there is ample space for wheelchair access. Photographers are also free to set up equipment and shot from the best angle for them. Watch scores of elephants line up at the water’s edge, hippos bathe in the rivers and herds of giraffe and antelope gallop across the horizon.

Chobe Game Lodge is a fully Ecotourism certified safari lodge as recognised by the Botswana Tourism Organisation. Guests are invited on Ecotours to see for themselves how the Chobe Game Lodge carry out their eco-friendly projects, and to learn about the lodge’s responsible tourism initiatives which focus on the importance of caring for the natural environment. This will be conducted by Albert Ndereki, the company’s ecotourism manager.

Chobe Game Lodge provides career opportunities for young people from their local community. Their specialised youth training program has allowed local youths to receive education and training in order to develop their skills and further their careers in the tourism industry. Another key focus is gender equality and creating better employment opportunities for women in Botswana. Chobe Game Lodge also provides financial contributions to a range of causes, one of which being the Turning Heads Beauty Salon, which is a project designed to provide employment for vulnerable women removed from the sex working industry in Kasane, Kazangula and their surrounding areas.

Chobe Game Lodge recycles around 95% of their waste. Glass is crushed and used for manufacturing bricks on-site, and tins are crushed to allow easy transportation to the nearby recycling plant. Plastic bottles are also crushed and returned to the supplier for recycling. Approximately 60,000 litres of grey water are processed by the lodge’s water treatment plant every day. This is then used as part of the irrigation water system to keep the lodge’s surrounding flora healthy. Chobe Game Lodge also use a biogas plant to process over 100 kg of biodegradable waste each day. The gas created through the breakdown process contributes to the running of the lodge kitchens. In addition, the lodge’s 250-metre long boardwalk and deck has been built using recycled timber-plastic decking and poles that were sourced from a sustainable forest operation. The decking does not require maintenance, meaning that cleaning chemicals are not used as they would pollute the Chobe River.
