The Gaya Island Resort runs an amazing Marine Centre where three main goals are instilled. These goals are; Turtle Rescue, Coral Reef Restoration and Conservation through Education. The Turtle Rescue initiative helps to rescue, rehabilitate and release turtles back into the ocean. When the Marine Centre is alerted to an injured turtle, the staff ensure to collect the turtle and then provide a secure enclosure for the turtle to recuperate, and eventually be released back into the wild. The Coral Reef Restoration measure offers a protected environment for coral reef to grow, and then these are used to rehabilitate dying coral reef structures. This increases the ocean biodiversity, providing a rich environment for aquatic animals to thrive in. The Conservation through Education programme provides an opportunity for guests and staff to learn about the importance of conservation. These three initiatives are vital to the survival of the surrounding nature, and help to ensure environmental sustainability.

As Gaya Island Resort is a part of the YTL Corporation, is dedicated to ensuring that they are as energy efficient as possible. By instilling renewable energy sources, such as solar, in order to power water heaters, this reduces the impact of YTL, as a company, on the environment.

By encouraging guests to minimise unnecessary water usage, by asking them to opt-out of daily towel or linen changes, the Gaya Island Resort aims to reduce the amount of clean water it wastes. Furthermore, where possible, the resort aims to recycle any wastewater and utilise this in the resort gardens.
