Example Itinerary

(B) Breakfast, (L) Lunch, (D) Dinner

On arrival at the Maun International Airport, guests will be met and assisted for a scheduled transfer by light aircraft to the Okavango Delta.

Situated in the north-western corner of Botswana, the Okavango Delta is a World Heritage Site, the largest inland delta in the world. Commonly spotted animals include lion, rhino, leopard, giraffe, hippos, elephant, crocodiles, and countless species of bird.

Guests can enjoy a number of activities such as game viewing, fishing, bird watching or taking an authentic guided Mokoro excursion through this wetland paradise in a traditional dugout canoe.

Mokoro Excursions

The ultimate safari experience. Indulge in a tranquil, culturally enlightening water-bound excursion that see’s you silently glide across open waters in a traditional style African dugout canoe (Mokoro) as you pass scores of aquatic creatures and vegetation. Venturing calmly onward will reveal intricate waterlilies, papyrus grasses, brightly coloured frogs, kingfishers and dragonflies, as well as the elephants that rear in close to feed on the reeds and drink from the river.

On Offer at Belmond Eagle Island Lodge

Visit the Local Village

Enrich yourself in the customs and culture of the neighbouring Nxhoga village for an authentic insight into the Botswana way of life. The opportunity to meet and engage with locals will provide an invaluable and enlightening experience that few are privy too. Activities include hut building, basket weaving, fishing, meeting village elders and local children, as well as opportunities to browse the local market, bakery and churches present.
